IDENTIFICATION OF THE COMPANIES TO INTERVIEW AND OF THE RAILWAY STATIONS AND AIRPORTS TO SURVEY

 

After having identified the forms of public transport and their infrastructures, we have identified the companies to interview, by consulting the following website: www.trasporti.regione.lombardia.it

Companies have been grouped following different criteria depending on the form of transport and the infrastructure considered:

  • EXTRAURBAN TRANSPORT
  • URBAN AND INTERURBAN TRANSPORT
  • LAKE NAVIGATION
  • RAILWAY SERVICE
  • RAILWAY STATIONS
  • AIRPORTS

EXTRAURBAN TRANSPORT

The 84 companies specialized in extraurban transport  have been divided by province. 
   

URBAN AND INTERURBAN TRANSPORT
We have considered the 11 companies specialized in urban and interurban transport in each capital of a province of the Lombardy Region.

 

RAILWAY SERVICE
The railway service in Lombardy is operated by two companies: Trenitalia S.p.A (Dipartimento di Regione Lombardia) and Ferrovie Nord  Milano.
Trenitalia is the company of Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato managing passengers.
Ferrovie Nord Milano is a non-state company managing railway transport in Lombardy.

 

RAILWAY STATIONS
For the purposes of our survey, we have considered the railway stations placed in each capital of a province of Lombardy.
We decided to analyse the accessibility of the following stations:

  • Milano Centrale FS(Ferrovie Stato), Milano Cadorna FNM ( Ferrovie Nord Milano)
  • Bergamo FS
  • Brescia FS
  • Como Nord Lago FNM, Como San Giovanni FS
  • Cremona FS
  • Lecco FS
  • Lodi FS
  • Mantova FS
  • Pavia FS
  • Sondrio FS
  • Varese Nord FNM, Varese FS.

The following companies operate the railway stations surveyed:

  • Ferrovie Nord Milano
  • Grandistazioni 
  • Centostazioni

Among the infrastructures surveyed, Ferrovie Nord Milano operates the stations called: Milano Cadorna, Como Nord Lago and Varese Nord.
Grandistazioni and Centostazioni  operate the main stations of the Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato.
Grandistazioni operates the network formed by the 13 main Italian stations, called “master” station. In Lombardy the master station is Milano Centrale FS.
Centostazioni manages 103 Italian large railway stations. Among the infrastructures operated by that company there are: Bergamo FS, Brescia FS, Como FS, Cremona FS, Lecco FS, Lodi FS, Mantova FS, Pavia FS, Sondrio FS, Varese FS.

 

LAKE NAVIGATION

The lakes of Lombardy presenting a public transport service are:

  • Lago Maggiore
  • Lago di Como
  • Lago di Garda
  • Lago d’Iseo
  • Lago di Lugano

The companies operating these services are:

  • Navigazione Laghi Maggiore, Garda e Como
  • Navigazione Lago d’Iseo s.r.l
  • Lake Lugano

 

AIRPORTS

The Airports surveyed are:

  • Milano Linate
  • Milano Malpensa Terminal 1 and 2
  • Orio al Serio (BG)
  • Montichiari (BS)
